**Q: Does this basket weather in the rain?**
A: I can only answer for my location. Which is just south of San Francisco on HWY 1. My basket has weathered the damp heavy salt air and rains far better than my bicycle. It, Nantucket is still going strong. Though I do not leave my bicycle outside. I do not attempt to dry my basket other than towel when wiping down bicycle, either after rain or rinse with hose when exposed to salt air. I hope this helps. I purchased this to use, it just keeps getting better with age.

**Q: How long are the leather straps?  I am reading comments about the straps being too short and having to buy other ones.**
A: Hey,I recently bought one for a project bike im building for my girlfriend and was impressed. I agree that the baskets are kinda pricy but then again you get what you pay for. Baskets are squared off and balanced, not lopsided. It also has a piece of stained wood on the inside for more support. Straps are fine for me, you dont want the basket sagging too low but level with handle bars and it works fine for me. Hope this helped.

**Q: Wilthis basket work on a speed bike?**
A: I would not suggest it.  It is a larger basket and with the lower handle bars I don't believe this baskket would not work.  I have a multi-speed hybrid bicycle but not a racing/speed bicycle.

**Q: What size are the screws that hold the brass plate and where can I order them?**
A: brass plates ?  the basket comes with two belt straps that can be attached to anything.  no screws needed.  good old fashioned belt buckle.

I live in Miami and have used the basket for 5 months and it has been working great. I am writing the review because some reviews said their basket was falling apart, mine is still in great condition. I use it for my purse, books, my daughter's lunch box, things like that. I have been using it 5 days a week or more since February and less often before that. I wouldn't put something super heavy in it or want it to get wet but it has been great for my purpose and is very attractive, I have gotten compliments on it. That being said, I did see one on another bike at the grocery store and the bottom was starting to break apart. I can only surmise that they let it get wet and that might lead to deterioration.
