I called the company to choose for my birds. **Q: How long until it expires and is no longer good?** A: It doesn't give an expiration date, only a "best before" date. We just bought a new container and it was supposed to be best before 2/11/21. We have three parakeets and use up a 5 lb. container in about 5 to 6 weeks. It's always been of very high quality. One thing to remember -- always keep the container completely closed so that the pellets are dry. Hard to switch seed birds. *by K***E on September 22, 2015* I know this to be great food for birds. If your bird is a seed-a-Holic like my bird who was eating seed in the store when I got him, it's not an easy switch. I've tried going cold turkey offering nothing but the Lafeber's and I've tried mixing. He won't eat it. I suppose it's like taking a kid who has been allowed to eat sweetened cereal their whole life and turn giving them unsweetened oats. Healthy, but not an easy switch to an already ruined pallet.
