Anohana: Flowers We Saw That Day Collection BLU-RAY [2019]

Surprisingly…. A letdown
First off this is a region B blu ray so unless you have a region B or free blu ray player don’t get it. I have heard so much praise about this anime that when I saw it reasonably priced in region B I jumped on it. But this is a severely overrated anime in my opinion. It’s a solid anime and it’s by no means bad but it is no where near top tier. I was expecting something different which may have affected the way I received it but I’ve seen alot of anime in this same genre and like many others better. The characters were all pretty lacking. They were all fairly hard for me to relate to and sympathize with. I also find the romance very ridiculous, two guys are hung up on a girl that died five years earlier that they “loved” as like 10yr olds… yeah, right. Then everyone of them has some HUGE regret about the situation and they all pretty much hate each other, but then when tensions are highest and by all accounts everyone should move further apart they all come together. And one adult character harbors hate towards a bunch of kids which is just ridiculous. Then the ending was pretty much… bad. I’m highlighting the bad and maybe being too hard on it but just because I feel like everything is too positive I want to balance out by showing the bad. Again I thought it was ok but with characters I didn’t particularly like, a story that was not very good or well executed, and nothing to really set itself apart, I just don’t get the hype other than it’s Aniplex.

Entertaining
I really enjoyed this anime so i had to get a copy for my collection. but as a heads up for anyone shopping for anime's online something that iv learned is if you see a circle with a number in it on the case then it safe to assume its (NOT) region A and probably region B or C so keep that in mined when looking around. i hope that's helpful.

It is from region B.
The Blu-ray is from region B (Europe). Meaning that if you are in the American countries (region A) or Asia (region C) this will not work with your standard Blu-ray player (unless you have one that isn't region locked.

Wonderful!
I think many in the west underestimate anime - myself included, until recently. From the cover, this looks like a 'typical' anime - cartoon teenagers, cute girls with huge eyes, boys with spiky hair etc. However, this is one of the best TV series I have seen - ever! It is absolutely heart-wrenching,,,,I'm a middle-aged bloke and I was pretty much wrecked throughout the last few episodes. The only thing that has affected me this much was Schindler's List. That may seem a ridiculous comparison, but believe me, it is not. The series focuses on a group of friends who have drifted apart after a tragic event 5 years before. Each have their issues, related to that event and to their own insecurities, which gradually emerge over the course of the series. The wonder of this is that these animated characters seem more real than many actors in conventional media. You identify with them, you care about them, and so you grieve with and for them. I watched this on Netflix and then immediately looked for it on Amazon, because streaming services eventually take series down and I want to have access to this forever. The English dubbing is good but the Blu-Ray also has the original Japanese with sub-titles, as you would expect.

11 gorgeous Episodes that will leave you in a pool of your own tears.
It has both the subtitled and English dubbed version, both versions are just as great as each other.11 episodes of gorgeous animation with great character development and voice acting that could be binged in a day. Please be advised that you will be in need of a hug or a large box of tissues by the end.Hope to see you all well in autumn ten years from now.

Watch this please
I saw this anime 3 years ago and each episode had me in tears. I just rewatched the first episode and I almost cried again.Plus it's an anime original so it's meant to be seen on this format.I couldn't read the blu-ray although I live in France (so B Zone, as the disc) but it just may be my PC because my PS5 can.Anyway, for those wondering, there are Japanese and English audio, as well as English subtitles, which you are able to... disable.Enjoy your discovery/rediscovery ^^
