What is the difference?** A: Hubby say's it is any way you measure it, is 8 inches... Mary **Q: Would this be a good toy for an over 100 pound GSD? he breaks everything.** A: Hey, just an addendum to the review I posted 5 years ago. The product has now changed, and is no longer the quality toy it was. I no longer recommend it. Even the private dog park where I first encountered it no longer uses these balls (note that all the good reviews are from about 5-8 years ago). It's really a shame, because it was a truly exceptional product, with durability that was nearly impossible to find. My GSD (now 7) still has his original ball and it's somewhat deflated but remarkably still in one piece and he absolutely loves it. I don't know why a company would change something working so well (another company took it over and decided to cut costs?) but it's really a damn shame. I can no longer recommend this product (which, in all fairness, is not even close to the product my German shepherd and I once fell in love with). **Q: is this the rubber plastic or hard plastic, like the egg?** A: Be sure you get the right ball. The Bounce-n-play is a thick-walled, semi-soft rubber or plastic that a dog can get their teeth into and can be used indoors (carefully), but is virtually indestructible for even the toughest dogs, like mine. The Push-n-play is hard plastic, for dogs that just like to push stuff around. **Q: Any difference in material/firmness between different color Bounce and Play Jolly balls?** A: There is no difference at all. You get a difference when you move between sizes. And of couse, the jolly without a handle goes a lot further. We've left it outside all winter here in the Midwest and it's still strong. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ High Quality Dog Ball *by R***N on February 24, 2017* We just received this ball today, and immediately took it out to the yard to see how our puppers would like it. All the way headed out, she was going crazy trying to take the ball from us - she LOVES her toys. Our dog and past balls: We have an 80 lb plab (pit lab mix), and she loves all toys, but has a bad habit of puncturing normal balls. The only other type we've had work for her are the solid kong balls, but they're far too hard for indoor play or bouncing in a crowded area (our cars are parked right by the back yard). What we wanted: We were looking for something like a small kids kickball, that we could kick around and bounce around but that she could still pick up with her mouth. Product Specifics: Size: This 6 inch is a little larger than what we were looking for. We spent about 30 minutes laughing hysterically as she pushed the ball around with her mouth open, trying to figure out how to pick it up. She eventually did, but it's not easy. Durability: The ball is made of a hard material, about 1/4 inch thick. There is a hole in the ball, which shows a hollow interior. It seems like it will hold up well as long as we don't leave her alone with it for long periods, as with unattended access she would quickly use the hole to tear it open. Bounce: The ball doesn't have much bounce, a purposeful bounce will bring it to about waist height. However, it bounces well off objects, and doesn't fly off crazily like the solid kong balls. Smell: The entire box had a blueberry smell, which was pleasant. It immediately got her attention. We'll see how well it lasts, but it seems to be baked in with the plastic, as opposed to being added after the fact, which is a good sign. Color: The ball is a bright light blue, which is good for dogs. Due to the spectrum of colors dogs see, red balls tend to blend in with the grass, as reds and yellows are seen in the same range as green. This being a blue, it stands out easily for her, which is what we wanted. Conclusion: This ball is amazing, even if it is bigger than we wanted originally.
