Using a small paper thin ruler that fits the journal's pocket, the edge was not friendly to various gel pens I tried using. The Fisher Astronaut pen holds up well in this regard, but designed more for writing and doing continuous lines, leaves some annoying artifacts. The Jetstream .28mm is really superior - I can use the side of the point right against the ruler edge with no worries of damage to the pen, as I do my Rotring 600 mechanical pencil. The oil ink has a perfect flow. Not forgiving if I make my own error, but as long as I do my part, the reward is bold but spiderweb-thin lines with no streaks, clots or any other sloppiness. I write normally and not with my arm bent like some left handed people do! **Q: will this write on transparent sticky notes?** A: I did not have a transparent note to test this pen on but I did try a sticky shipping label and it wrote on that but it did need a second to dry without smearing.
