In anticipation I bought a normal hedge trimmer to do the sides and used the same battery as this, which I think worked well. I bought it from Amazon warehouse, the box had been opened but it wasn't used so worked out great value. It worked well at cutting the hedge, got through some fairly thick branches with a bit of effort.
