A: I'm not sure what you mean by "two sets of wires" but it is designed to "clamp" on to the power line without cutting or stripping it. It's what's called a vampire tap.

**Q: Is it half in or 2 in**
A: The depth is 1.5" but the plug face NOT including the cover is 2"

Works great, but there is something on the face of it that won't come off. Maybe it rubbed on something, but I couldn't clean it up with Goof Off. Didn't try returning it as it's in my camper and hopefully won't stand out too bad.
