I wanted them to be strong enough that an an adult could also sit on them, and these definitely fit the bill. I love absolutely everything about them except the "faux distressing" on the seats, which looks, well frankly, pretty fake. Since the size and everything else is perfect, and we want to change them to the same color as the table, we are going to sand them down and re-stain. The seats are nice and thick, real wood, so that won't be a problem. Overall, I love them and they are certainly worth the price.
