The smell is a strong tropical cleaner kind of smell. I wasn't the biggest fan, but I prefer it to the smell of ACV. I have shoulder length locs and I used 2-3 tablespoons in enough hot water to fill my inflatable sink. I soaked my hair for about 20 minutes, and the water afterward was definitely a little murky. I washed my locs after and noticed how soft and lightweight my hair felt. They're fluffier, if that makes sense lol the only con is that the bag is not as big as I thought. It's 8oz of powder, but if you soak your hair semi annually, or annually, this will last awhile. So if you use 2 tbsp per soak, you can get about 7 soaks a bag.
