I had thought about getting some updated blinds that would actually open and close, but opted to go with the curtain and am glad I did. This is a much better solution.I did not really get them for the blackout functionality but now that they are installed it's a great bonus. Nice to have the subdued lighting in the kitchen in the mornings when the sun is too bright for me to deal with. I bought a one inch rod to span the six foot opening and now I can actually close the curtain at night so there is a level of security/privacy I have not had in a long time. I can't yet speak to whether or not they will help keep out the cold, but they do seem to keep the area near the door a little cooler during the hot days we have had so far this summerThese curtains are thick yet soft and very well made. The extra weight helps them hang real nice and not move around when the AC is on (there is a vent near the door and the old blinds would rattle a little when the air was moving). I was really surprised at the quality given the price.The brass grommets look great and not just functional. There are no lose strings where they attach to the fabric either.
