But my iPad’s speaker made no sound when playing back the recording. I tried playing a YouTube video and music, still no sound. As long as the lavalier mic was plugged into the lightning port, sound would not play from the speaker. Removed the mic, and the speaker worked fine. After some research, I learned that the iPad’s hardware is designed to expect headphones/earbuds when an audio device is plugged into the lightning port. Therefore, sound output is sent to that device and not to the native speaker.
