The transition happens gradually and works as advertised. This pair of transition sunglasses works very well in the late Fall/Winter season here in the Midwest of the U.S of A, when there are periods of low clouds, then spotty sunshine. I wear them for the bicycle ride (short or long hours), and I wear them for yard work. The nose pieces are somewhat adjustable rubber pads that stick in heavy sweat. I took off one star due to there is no sweat channel cut in the upper frame, so sweat makes its way to the lenses. I sweat A LOT, so I have this problem. I also own many pairs of sunglasses from Smith to Oakley, and the aesthetics of this pair cannot compare to them, but its functionalities are 90% of the others.
