Review: Not used in earnest yet (bought for power outages) but seems robust and was easy to set up and run. - I've owned many Briggs and Stratton engines over the last fifty years, mainly in lawnmowers, and so when I decided to buy a generator in order to keep the lights on in my home here in the UK if we run out of natural gas this winter (go green, go broke and be poor is the government policy here in the UK), I decided to buy one that had one of these trusty engines inside it. The unit arrived promptly, well-packaged and with adequate set-up instructions. You have to fill the engine sump with your own oil but once you've done this, you just fill the tank with fuel, turn the operating switch to 'choke' and give the pull-starter a few sharp pulls and you are up and running. The unit has two UK 240V AC sockets as well as 12V DC connectors and even a USB charging connection. My only gripe as regards connection is that UK sockets are much larger than the US 120V design for which the generator was clearly originally designed, and this means that it's very difficult to actually get two UK plugs into the sockets because there's hardly enough space between them. The generator uses an inverter to maintain voltage and, more importantly, frequency at any engine speed and so it doesn't have to run at 3,000 rpm constantly in order to maintain these output values. This means that, at low loads, the engine spins down and is therefore quieter and more fuel efficient. There are videos on YouTube showing oscilloscope outputs during load cycling of this generator and which show how remarkably stable the output frequency is. So for the money, this is an excellent generator for just about any domestic mains driven appliance. If we get black-outs during the winter, I'll update this review but for now, I'd recommend it. During a 24 hour run this would be 11.4 liters in total. Be aware the fuel tank contains 3.8 liters so you will need to refuel every 8 hours (at 25% load as mentioned before). **Q: Wud this b suitable for my motorhome 12v tv and microwave kettle erc** A: Hi, whether this would be suitable or not depends on the maximum wattage you would be drawing from the appliances at any one time. The rated continuous output of this machine is 1800W, and the maximum for short bursts is 2400W, so as long as the combined wattage required by your appliances is less than this amount they you would be fine. Only run 3-4 times. Smart, quite silent machine. Easy to operate but difficult to maintain (e.g. getting at spark plug) - due to compact design. Has external exhaust fume detector which closes down machine when running in room/shed. Bought with (extra & very expensive) handle bar - but this makes transport so much easier.
