Because I color my hair, a regular straightener is too hot and damages my hair. This brush is perfect for me. I go to bed with my hair damp and it is all over the place when I wake up. This brush straightens my hair perfectly and takes much less time than my traditional straightener without all the damage to my hair. The only issue I have with this brush is that the controls are on the side of the brush handle and it is very easy to accidentally turn the brush off or lower the heat. However, I am African American with wavy roots. The brush does not allow you to touch the roots at all. I tried with much effort to get the roots near the heating elements but the way the brush is designed, it was impossible. Therefore, it kinda defeated the purpose of straightening my hair. For those who already have straight roots, this product is really wonderful and I would recommend it. Another thing I'd like to add is that it does not give the shine that you would get from a flat iron.
