La plaque de tôle protège bien la main pour le transport par la poignée mais attention lorsqu'on relâche l'animal capturé. C'est le levier d'armement qui sert à ouvrir le piège et quand on le manœuvre, il est très près du bord de la tôle de protection. Une morsure est donc possible si l'on ne fait pas attention.
