I noticed that the service bulletin does this.** A: The factory manual and bulletin 09-010 say to remove it, but I found additional information online that said removal is not required. I was not able to get the vtc actuator retaining bolt loose with the cam still installed, so I ultimately had to remove the cam. It was more work, but I was able to complete the job. I would try without removing the cam first. Be sure to keep tension on the chain so that it does not jump a tooth on the crank gear. **Q: How hard is this to do yourself? i have my own shop but never taken a 2013 honda cr-v motor apart** A: i actually took my valve cover off to do so and turns out my camshaft got messed up too so the cars just been sitting and i still have the part if you want i could sell it to you for a little cheaper? the part is just sitting i have no use for it **Q: Is this the old part that kept breaking after replacing it or is this actually the new part number 14310 - R5A - 305 that fixed the issue?** A: the old part is no longer available, its been replaced by R5A-305. The reason it was changed was due to the morning's rattle sound for about 3 seconds at engine start and that Honda put out a service bulletin.
