The portability is decent and It's stable enough for the hobbiest photographer. The lowest "mode" is a bit tedious to get to and you need to carry extra tools. The ball head isn't that adjustable mainly either locked or loose but can have some friction but isnt smooth (it can be swapped out atleast).
