It stores line, as any other reel does, and it’s fairly smooth considering the price. I mainly bought it because I liked the color. It has a pretty quiet click when stripping line and is silent when retrieving line.The spare spool is waste of $20. The first one I purchased did not fit on my 7/8 reel and after measuring I discovered it was about 2mm larger than the spool the reel came with. After purchasing a second and returning the first I found that this wasn’t an isolated incident.
