What can I do??** A: Try placing a paper towel on the bottom of the butterfly habitat you will use. Then gently tip them onto the paper towel at the bottom of the habitat. I only had one come loose from the paper, but it did survive and emerge from the chrysalis. Avoid touching them as much as possible. **Q: The Cats ate a hole through the paper lid. What do I do?** A: You can cover the hole with more paper. Try using a paper towel. One of my students told me their dog ate the entire cup of food and caterpillars! Not much you can do about that. **Q: Do I need to buy a little net structure for them in addition to this kit? Where do they attach the cocoon to?** A: You should buy one of the butterfly net enclosures for them. Once they make their chrysalis, you can pin the paper they’re attached to, to the inside of the net. Ours are hatching this week! **Q: How long does it take for them to grow to butterflies?** A: The directions were pretty accurate on estimating the length of time. As I recall, it was 3-4 weeks. All of the caterpillars were not the same size, so they formed their chrysalis at different time and became butterflies at different times. At lease one caterpillar was much smaller so it took longer for it to grow and form a chrysalis.
