I did this very accurately using two different Fluke meters. Hope this helps. If you were to put a 35 gauge piece of nichrome directly across the terminals of an alkaline 9 volt battery it may get so hot that it could possibly incidences and break. **Q: What grade/alloy of Nichrome is this?** A: I does seem to be a high-temperature alloy, but I wouldn't call it Nichrome at all, with very little nickel (0.5%), 4% Aluminum, 15% Chrome, 80% iron. Maybe it's close to Kanthal, which is a different kind of heater-wire alloy. **Q: would this work for fireworks ematches** A: Yes.
