Review: Great product but desertcart warehouse damaged it. - This is a great product I’ve used for years on my bird. But… the box arrived with absolutely no damage but the product was damaged inside so apparently it happened in warehouse and desertcart still packaged it and sent it out. The handle and line that goes into the bottle were taped to the outside of the bottle so you had to destroy the direction to the product to get it off. The handle was cracked into two pieces and the product need transferred to another bottle to even use the product. desertcart is dropping the ball lately. That’s why I’m canceling my prime. And that they give my packages now to USPS which can’t be trusted these days either. Prime is just complete BS anymore.
Review: Excellent product - I purchased finch from a well known pet shop. When I purchased the finch I noticed that it was missing feathers from the back area. At the pet shop I was told it was because the bird was a baby bird and it was getting new feathers. After a couple of weeks, giving multi vitamins, eggs, my birds didn't improve, but developed this horrible looking scales. To make a long story short; I know my birds were already infected with mites from the pet shop. I've grown attached to the birds to return or complain, but it has caused great inconvenience. Some of the mites had jumped on me while treating and cleaning the cage. Anyway the product is great! I have used the product three times and I've seen significant improvement on my finch. The scales have disappeared, my finch stopped coughing from the mites, and are slowly growing feathers. I recommend the product, but you have to be very careful while using it because it seems to be very strong.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What are the ingredients? It's impossible to read the label on Amazon. Thanks.**
A: Pyrethrins .03%Piperonyl Butoxide, Technical .30%Other ingredients 99.67%

**Q: My chickens have either mice or lice and I don't know which. Will this work on them and their coop? I am worried about their little butts.**
A: This is good stuff, but our chickens are about as free range as you can get. They have run of about 80 acres, and we converted one of our old outbuildings into a secure, roughly 800 square foot bird house. So they are friendly, come when called, but extremely against being physically handled. Spraying them didn't go off well at all. I can close the big door and have them leave through their winter door, about the size of a medium doggie door (we live in Wisconsin. The winters are brutal getting down to -20 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit, so restricting as much air getting into the building as possible is life or death for them) and spray them as they come out except once the first one is sprayed, pandemonium ensues. So, I do use this as part of our pest control plan, but we need other things as well. We do not raise chickens commercially. Chickens are hysterical to watch so they are sort of our pets. Mites are especially hard to control in a free range environment because they start living everywhere, including the lawn. It's impossible to avoid them or completely eradicate them.
Keeping their house clean is a must. Because of the large size (almost more square footage then the 1st floor of our house) things that work for people with small containment areas aren't practical for us. For any size area, cleaning with Rescue (available here on Amazon) is a must. Because it's a peroxide based cleaner, no rinsing is required. After about 20 minutes it breaks down into oxygen and carbon dioxide. Completely safe. Just pull the food and water, spray everything down, using extra on and around their perch and nesting boxes. We spray before the actual cleaning starts for 2 reasons: inhaling the waste is really bad for your lungs so it keeps the airborne dust down, and once the bedding starts to get disturbed, the mites can wind up all over us. If you've ever had mites, it's an experience you'll never forget and never want to have again. The itching will drive you insane, similar to scabies. Mites are tiny. They can come in on your clothes, and wind up all over the house. It's a nightmare that takes time and money to get rid of, not to mention the mental toll because of lack of sleep due to itching, lack of relaxation due to itching, and frustration with the whole situation taking so long to resolve. Then the bedding is removed and waste scraped out. Then, we spray down with Rescue again because it's also a top notch cleaner that kills a long list of bacteria, viruses, and so on. Clean bedding (we grow hay so that's their bedding material) is put down, and their freshly cleaned and disinfected food and water containers returned.
We also put down DE everywhere. Including on the ground where they like to take their dust bathes. Again, very safe, and dirt cheap the larger the amount purchased. Even small amounts are super affordable. We also choose to use Ivermectin in their water a couple of times a year. It's great for mites and worming. Fantastic really. Both the generic and brand names are available here on Amazon. Ivermectin doses based on weight with a rate of 1ml per 22 pounds so buy a small bottle. A little goes a long way. A litre of generic was around $30 the last time I ordered it. Again, super affordable and much, much cheaper to buy here, or at a farm supply than from a pet or bird specific store. It was almost 10 times more expensive in the stores I checked when we first got some rescue birds. Our cats never go into the bird enclosure so it's never been an issue, but check the label to make sure it won't make other pets sick of they get into it.
We carry the bottle of this everywhere and mist the birds as we walk around. We can get in a coup!e of sprays and move on before they can process what we've done. It's a sneak attack.
We also spray this extremely lightly on the bottom of our pants and shoes before entering the house so we don't carry any inside. That's at your own risk. It hasn't stained anything, but we wear jeans.

**Q: Can I use it to treat Scaly face mites on Parakeets ?**
A: The directions on the label do not specify which birds. It states: Directions for use:Use directly on birds to control bird lice:Leave birds in cage. Remove food and water. Spray directly on birds from a distance of 12 to 18 inches. Avoid the bird's eyes and face. Lightly spray with 3 or 4 pumps Repeat twice a week.Use on Cage and Aviary Surfaces to Control Feather Mites:Remove bird(s)" food and water cups, etc. Spray cage and aviary surfaces thoroughly from at least one foot, using 5 to 6 pumps per cage. Spray outside of the cage bottom thoroughly as feather mites often live there. Repeat Treatment in Aviaries, Cages and on Birds Twice a Week Bird cages should be cleaned in hot water weekly. -I would contact the manufacture directly if you have more specific questions.

**Q: what is most popular for birds feathers**
A: For birds feathers, a good bird bath , that they will use.
Scalex is for spraying the outside parrot cage.
