Review: Protects my network drive! - We get a lot of daft little 3-4 second power cuts where I live, often, many of them one after the other. I've already lost a 4TB hard drive from my NAS due to this so I thought I'd better prevent it from happening again. This device does NOT come with a power cable, but anyone who has computer(s) is bound to have about half a dozen spare ones lying around. If not, it's just a standard kettle lead. The outputs aren't regular 3-pin plugs, instead using C13 outputs. This might seem daft but you do get a smaller unit than it would be if there were six fullsize UK plug sockets on the back instead. I had to make a short adapter to plug in the transformer of my BT Home Hub 5 (3-pin socket on one end, C14 connector on the other). I also replaced the plug on my NAS drive with a C14 connector, which then plugged straight into the back of the UPS. I've probably made this sound more complicated than it is. If you know how to wire a standard plug, it's all very straightforward. I have a Synology NAS which, when connected to the UPS with the supplied USB cable, allows the NAS to shut down safely and automatically after either a fixed period of time, or when the UPS battery runs low. In either case, low UPS battery will force the NAS to safely shut down anyway. I only have my Home Hub 5 and NAS connected to the UPS. My phone line is VoIP so with no internet, I have no phone, which would be bad in emergency situations. Using this UPS, the display claims that it will support both devices for approximately 66 minutes. When the NAS goes into sleep mode (i.e. not used for an hour), power requirements will be minimal and the UPS support period will be even longer. It has a nice display on the front which shows you various information including power input voltage/frequency, output voltage, current draw, battery charge level, expected battery runtime, and more. You swap through the screens by each press of the "Display" button. The screen auto-powers off after a few seconds if not touched. There is also a Mute button which can be used to switch off the very audible warning beep when there's a power cut. Overall, brilliant item that will hopefully protect my hardware for years to come.
Review: Great UPS, well built with excellent compatibility - Really pleased with this. The build quality is excellent and I managed to set it up with my Linux NAS and Home Assistant Pi in a couple of hours (with help from Gemini and chatgpt). I can easily monitor power, and my servers shutdown safely. I can run my cable router and a couple of light servers for 30 mins apparently though I haven't tried to run it out; long enough for most power blips anyway.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this cyberpower vp1000eilcd support usb connection for automatic nas shutdown?**
A: Yes. Connected to my QNAP NAS fine.

**Q: Does the vp1000eilcd have a minimun output load? i.e. would a 6 / 7 watt router work?**
A: I think it should be OK, mine runs an NAS, a router, the fibre optic line adapter and a cordless phone base unit, I have shut down the NAS on occasion, and everything seems fine. It is probably a bit more than 7 W, but not much.

**Q: How many charge cycles will this product last if fully depleted everytime the ups was used 100% full > 100% depletion > 100% full charge cycles?**
A: Why would anyone fully discharge the UPS evertime it was used.
My UPS protects my system against unexpected power disruption.
Over the last 6 months it has been on continuously and only once needed to switch to battery backup when the mains failed.
The UPS correctly supported the system for 20 minutes and then instructed the equipment to shut down and then closed itself down.
When the power was restored the UPS and the system automatically restarted.
Battery is still at 100%

**Q: Does synology recognise the ups via the usb cable (eg is it compatible with synology nas)? thx**
A: Can't say about Synology at depends on the model, but it works fine with a QNAP NAS. The Cyber power website has a NAS compatibility page so you can check.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ticks all the main boxes for backup home power for Modems and NAS servers
*by R***D on 14 November 2020*

So what I was looking for was something to talk to my Synology NAS down from full power to a nice sleeping state- and also to power the main home modem/router for longer - a couple of hours. The nice things about this are that it is plug and play and has an lcd display as well. The USB connection to the Synology NAS - just works with minimal configuration - so the NAS now powers down gracefully in the event of a power failure after 5 minutes - unlike QNAP and Buffalo - have found Synology very sensitive to power blips - so this prevents me having to spend a lengthy amount of time bringing it back online. The LTE/Fixed Wireless Modem - is powered by the UPS - and seems to have 4-5 hours of runtime in a power loss situation ( - a standard modem that doesn't have to power a mast would probably run for much longer) For the size of the battery - this NAS is still fairly tidy and slots into a 4U slim horizontal space - and also runs fairly quiet. So overall all fairly happy with this - would have given it 5 stars if it came with a UK Plug and something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B082VJLJLZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (So that you can seamlessly plug in whatever you need to)
