Promise has a similar feeling and story to the Clan of the Cave Bear series of books, however in contrast Promise abstains from graphic sexual content - I will be happy to recommend the book to my pre-teen niece. In fact I think this is a great book to share with young people - it creatively illustrates the importance of responsible, sustainable human interactions with Nature.I loved how the author describes the character's communication through a wolf/animal perspective - body language, scents, etc. I could really imagine the wolves interacting, much like our dog and cats interact with us. I especially recommend Promise to animal lovers.Looking forward to continuing the story. I see here on Amazon.com that the second installment of Dorothy Hearst's series, Secrets of the Wolves, will be released in late August.
