One word of advice: make sure you don't tighten the rings against the buckle of the straps. I've done so when setting my rings high for pull ups, and the metal buckle will leave a dent in the wood if you do so. Make sure the rings are resting against the fabric instead. The straps are 4.5m long, so wrapped around give you easily 2.2m + the set-up you need for good clearance from the floor. What I advise you take into account when fitting these, is whether you should do any knot or extra loop to the beam (based on how much you need these to move freely). I have them hanging outside, will they be damaged by the weather?** A: Gymnastics rings are made from wood which as you assumed, adsorbs moisture and swells. Our advice is to pack these up after each training as it's quite quick to do so. If you have the straps hanging from a high beam and it's difficult to reach, you could at least remove the rings. You could of course also go for plastic rings to avoid this risk however please check the disadvantages of using plastic rings (eg very slippery).
