They were buttery smooth and I loved the wooden bead at the end as it was big enough to hold everything even when the project got to be fairly large. My only complaint, if there is one, is that the plastic cable did have a tendency to kink. But if I pulled on the wooden bead at the end of the cable and straightened the cable, the kink disappeared so it really wasn't an issue. The needles worked well and were light enough to use effectively even when my project grew very large and heavy. The hooks came in a red velvet bag and overall, I was very pleased with my purchase. These larger sized crochet hooks are very difficult to find. None of my local stores had them. So I was glad that the set that I got worked so well. They were comfortable to use. Hooks are bamboo, smooth and comfortable to use. The tubing gives them an odor but if left out to air, it dissipates in a few hours.
