While aluminum caps are great for canning they are not as good if you are using them as everyday food storage caps. I recently cleaned up a trash can worth of rusty aluminum mason jar caps from my cupboard. They were mostly used to store homemade dog food in our freezer. I then switched to Ball brand white plastic mason jar caps. They work fine for dog food but I found them being too brittle for everyday storage caps. They break easy if dropped and I suspect they will not remain leak-proof over time. I decided to finally try the Blossom silicone cap. According to my belief silicone is a less toxic material to be in contact with food comparing to plastic and aluminum. I usually use quart size mason jars with a silicone cap to store cut pineapple, half an avocado or leftovers of mango salsa in the fridge. To my surprise the Blossom silicone cap is completely leak-proof. It fully overlaps the threading of the mason jar on the bottom to provide an extra seal. I attached pictures to show that there's no liquid escaping from a jar when it's set in the upside down position.Couple things to know before purchasing a Blossom silicone cap.Available in 3 color/types:- Clear cap without holes for storing wet or dry items- Blue cap with a straw hole in the middle for sipping and drinking- Green cap with multiple holes for flower arrangements.Available in 2 sizes:- 4 inch wide mouth- 3.5 inch regular mouth.Available in 2 quantity sets:- set of 1 cap- set of 4 caps.The only Blossom cap intended for storage is the clear cap. Blue and green caps have holes so they won't work for storage. Read description carefully and pick the right quantity of silicone caps. As most negative reviews for these caps are left by people not being able to differentiate a 1-cap set from a 4-cap set.Blossom silicone cap is very flexible and can be stored inside of a jar when not in use. It is also dishwasher safe on the top rack. I originally ordered Blossom Mason Jar Storage Lid for myself but my husband has been using this lid for his mango-pineapple chia pudding almost every day for the last three months. He brings his pudding to work and there has not been any leakage so far.Packaging indicates that the cap is designed in Alaska and made in China. Due to this and the cap being a bit pricey I give it 4 stars.Conclusion:Great leak-proof silicone mason jar cap for storing dry and liquid foods. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Not a great fit for all jars *by G***R on Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2017* These are a nice idea but they do not fit all types of wide mouth jars well. I needed something leak proof for some Ball 64oz jars I use for homemade nondairy milks. My jars have a slightly sloped side at the top. My Ball quart jars have a similar design. The only jars these covers fit well were my straight-sided pint jars. I can put these on the half gallon or quart jars (which are a very standard design for wide mouth) but they do not fit snugly like the pint jars due to the shape. If your jars have any type of slope inward near the lid just be aware these will act more like a loose cover than a snug lid. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love it; seals as described; different colors have different features *by D***R on Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2014* These are soft but I filled a jar up with water and turned it over and it held without leaking. These are great for re-using canning jars for general storage, packing lunches, etc. Our metal lids keep rusting because they keep ending up in the dishwasher so these will solve that problem. The pictures are a little confusing because you can click on 3 different colors, but it's not just a color option. If you buy clear you are buying a cover with no holes.
