Review: A well designed kite - from a company that is passionate about their product. - This kite was our first dual-line parafoil that we purchased. _Expectations: The tantrum 250 was chosen based on the experience of flying a friend's Prism Synapse as well as the solid positive reviews that we read through. _The Product: The kite, complete with low-stretch Dyneema lines was a really well designed product. I did not find anything that fell short of the description and in addition to that, I was particularly pleased with the bridle lines which resisted tangling and the overall construction which really gave me confidence in the claim of the ability to survive hard landings. Finally, when rolled up into it's bag it makes for a surprisingly tight package that's easy to find a storage place for (on a shelf, in the rafters, hung up with the coats, etc.) -Flight: It's an arm-stretcher - even in a moderate breeze. The control bar makes it easier to work with under stronger winds. We also switched the control bar out (easily) with some home-made wrist straps for lighter breezes. As it says in the description, the 250 is a big kite with real pull, but not as quick and snappy as a stunt kite. We had a number of hard landings on grass as we were getting to know it, but each time recovered easily without damage or tangling. (I did buy some patching tape just in case.) Over all, it's a really, really fun kite and a reminder that in a contest with the wind - the wind can easily win. - The Company: I think in any case I'd give this kite a solid 5 stars. It exceeded my expectations. But what I also want to acknowledge is an exceptional customer service experience I had with the people at Prism. Not only were they outstandingly helpful and positive, but I also experienced the enthusiasm and passion they have around what they do. That can be as important as the quality of the product itself.
Review: Great two-line kite that will put a grin on your face - This is my second parafoil kite and it’s a great kite to bring with me every where I go. The kite pulls very hard and has a wide enough wind range to fly at almost any time. I weigh in the ball park of about 155lbs. In 20-25mph winds, I’ll lie on my stomach and the kite will drag me across the ground about 10-14 feet each pass through the high power zone. While on my feet I’m able to jump about the same distance forward. Jumping up is a bit difficult because the sail is not quite large enough to fall back down slow enough. It is possible however. This kite is quite the work out. I flew the kite all day in 15-25mph winds and the next day I was so sore that I was moving old man speed. In light winds (8-12mph) is probably the best for this kite because it won’t leave you bed locked the next day. This kite leaves a wide grin on my face every time I fly it. I without a doubt recommend this kite to anyone who is looking to get into kiting. There is one thing that could be a negative, however, it’s understandable. That is the durability, if you fly the kite correctly, it will last years. Avoid making the kite hit the ground leading edge first at full speed. Upon impact the internal pressure of the sail will increase exponentially and will make the sail tear after repeated collisions with the ground. So I highly recommend that you get used to the kite in light winds before testing your limits. My final thoughts are 10/10. A helpful hint: if you are flying alone, stake the control bar to the ground and set the kite in an L shape where there is tension on the lines and the first 1/3 of the sail is sticking up while the last 2/3 is on the ground. This will make launching very easy if you don’t have access to sand.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Myself weighing about 175, and if I’m on a board (snowboard, skateboard). Does it pull hard enough to get me moving?**
A: Yes in strong enough wind it will

**Q: Is the Tantrum stackable? And what is the meter size of the 250?**
A: Meter size is 2.5 square meters. What do you mean by stackable?

**Q: Can you go kite boarding as a beginner and what board do you recommend**
A: I recommend the MBS colt mountain board. But you should either begin on very short grass, or packed down sand or chose a 3 meter kite. (Tantrum 250 is 1.76 meter the tantrum 220 is roughly 1.2 meter) The grass needs to be under an inch and a half because the kite will not have enough pull to pull you along. Depending on your weight (I weigh about 160lbs) you will need higher winds. I have not used this kite for kiteboarding. I use a larger kite. higher the wind, the more dangerous and more severe the turbulence will be. This will be frustrating as well as potentially injure you. In very turbulent conditions you can have the kite stall out and then pull you off your feet in a matter of a second. If you are unable to predict how hard the kite is about to pull, you will not have a good time. I would say it will pull you on a paved surface. But that too is very dangerous to attempt. Especially for a beginner kite boarder. I have flown the tantrum 250 in 25-35mph winds (don’t attempt because this is outside of the wind range) and it will pull hard enough to kiteboard properly. However, I do believe you will have to angle the board more into the wind window in order to move. So carving upwind will be difficult.

**Q: Do you sell a kit to convert it to 4 string?**
A: Hi there! The Tantrum line of trainer foils are not convertible to quad/4-line control. Check out our Tensor series if you are looking for a 4-line power kite!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Exercise!
*by P***A on July 7, 2020*

This kite is similar to the Prism Synapse series except that it has a stronger pull and employs a control bar instead of two handles. I prefer handles on my kites but the bar is good if you want to go out in strong winds and get dragged around. The kite is well made, easy to set up, and the colors look great in the sky. I fly it with the Prism 75 Tube Tail which gives it more stability, slows it down a bit, and makes for a more dramatic and satisfying experience. The end of the tail is green which matches the colors of this model. You can get a great workout with this kite. Check out my video here of the Prism Tantrum 250 with the Prism 75 foot Tube Tail (see my Amazon review for this too).
