They are loose. It’s best for quick access seasoning. **Q: Can I put body sugar scrub in it ? or it have to be sealed in container - thank you.** A: Yes you could. Loose plastic wrap could be placed over the top prior to the lid. **Q: Is this dishwasher safe?** A: I don’t know but I wouldn’t put it in the dishwasher. I hand wash mine. **Q: WAshing with water can spoil wooden box ?** A: I would assume so but the wooden pieces shouldn't need washing. Just use a clorox wipe on it. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐ I love the idea but they are not airtight! *by B***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 October 2021* So at first I LOVED this set, using for coffee tea and sugar.
