They are filled with silicone grease which helps make them water-resistant, so you'll want to wear disposable gloves while you are installing them. I used them with 16/2 landscape zip wire and while they work fine with that gauge wire, getting the wire into the connector was a little challenging, what I finally wound up doing was pressing the wire into the little channel with some needle nose pliers and that worked great.
