## Description

3M Scotchlok Moisture Guard Connector MGC offers a convenient solution to connect 2 or 3 wires when installing or repairing landscape, irrigation and outdoor lighting systems. The mineral oil based grease inside the UV-resistant connector protects against moisture.

Review: They worked flawlessly for my landscape lighting project using 12/2 wire and 16 GA fixtures. I was able to tie into the existing 10/2 wire IF I stripped the wire and ideally first removing the 3 hole gasket. As others mentioned, I found channellocks work best .. and you'll probably ruin 2-3 getting use to these connectors. The trick is twisting and not compressing and don't lube the wires .. you need a strong grip. I'd also recommend having a rag handy because you will get the gel on both the channel locks and your fingers. When you need to use just 2 wires .. don't worry and don't put a blank cut wire as a cap it will only act as a wick to the water, there's plenty of gel to fill the blank. I'd love it if there was a triple 12/2 connector for the T branches.

Note that no stripping is required! Plan to waste a few trying getting the hang of it and double check before you close them - not really made for reuse.

**Q: Can theae connect inline to the main? T-tap. Without cutting the main?**
A: No.  The main cable must be cut.

**Q: Can a 12 awg solid wire be inserted into the bigger hole?**
A: The description for these connectors says that it will accept 12 gauge wire.  we do not use anything bigger than 14 gauge so I don't know for sure.

**Q: Can the connectors be reused if silicone added?**
A: The gel isn't silicone. The connectors can be reopened but unless some dielectric gel squeezes out you risk the chance of water infiltration and thereby the integrity of the connector. I'd recommend discarding failed attempted connectors .. it's a guarantee that you'll mess-up the first few so get extras.

Worked great for fixing some underground low voltage landscape wire for my lights Update! So I've used a few more of these and figured out a little trick, most of the led landscape lights have super thin wires, (22g or so) had a couple of tough ones to actually make the splice / connection inside, so what I do now is strip the lights wires and weave / twist in an additional striped 16-18g wire (just the ends obviously). Then feed BOTH wires into the centre hole and once I get in I cut the sacrificial 18g wire so that it ends just inside the connectors rubber seal. Makes a solid connection and had ZERO problems with them since!
