The first thing that i thought when i pulled one of these plugs out of the box was.. "Wow, this is heavy for its size." These are well made, work like a charm and have a low profile, which you might not consider when buying banana plugs. The shorter the better, because if you have you equipment close to a wall or other structure, you want a "stubby" banana plug. The effort to pull your equipment out, wire up the banana plugs and reposition everything, is a pain. Using inferior plugs could have you revisiting your equipment much sooner than anticipated. Review: Easy installation, great design! - For a newcomer to home theater, these things are about as dummy-proof as i could ask for. Easy five out of five. I tried multiple different brands of banana plugs (Monoprice, Rocketfish) while trying to set up my speakers, and the Mediabridge plugs were the easiest to use by a mile. The inside of the barrel leaves enough space for the speaker wire to fold over in position, while leaving enough room to prevent them from interfering with the threading when screwing the plugs back together, which was a big failing for me with the Monoprice plugs. I have had these installed on my speakers and AVR for two months with no issues thus far. Worth the money just for the ease of use alone. Update: seven months later, still going strong with no issues or need to re-adjust the plugs or wiring. I've got some banana plugs from Home Depot and while they're good, the open screw type is a little tricky. Since it has a hole the back it seems like the wire should go through there but it's supposed to just get crimped into the side hole. I made it work going through back, bending and clamping onto the wire. Kind of a pain, and some wire sticks out the other side. I was fairly certain that there's got to be a better design for banana plugs. Then I found these. Now this is what I'm talking about. Push the wire through the hole, fold it over and screw the two halves back together. Simple! You only need to strip about a ΒΌ" of insulation. AND, they hold the wire very tightly. No fear of the wire pulling out. The Mediabridge banana plugs fit tighter in the binding posts than the store bought ones, so unplugging them is a bit more difficult. To me that just screams "Good Connection!", plus I don't plan on unplugging them very often. When I was trying different speaker configurations, it was nice not to have to pull with too much force when I wanted to quickly switch speakers. Now that I'm all set up, these will work fine. They will stay put and I will probably never unplug them again until I need to replace my receiver. Were these absolutely necessary, no the speaker wires were already screwed in but they make a really good connection as well as give the receiver a nice clean look in the back. One thing I thought was b.s. is that I've had these on my wishlist for a few months and they've been $19.99. So I put them in my cart and they sat there for a few days while I decided on a few more items for purchase. Then they suddenly jumped up to $22.99! I almost deleted them but decided I wanted them anyway and figured they were good quality and worth the price (they are). So, if you've had your eyes on these for while and are wondering why the price jump, you can thank me for that.
