Crazy Dead People

Before reading this, I had picked up no less than ten different novels and just could not get into them.This book grabbed me at the first sentence and kept me interested and wanting to know "what happens next" all the way through. Mayhan does a really nice job of characterization while still maintaining a good pace. The characters were likable, believable and empathetic. Often when animal characters are introduced in books they end up hokey or dead; I'm pleased that didn't happen with Fugly and Frank.There were a few editorial errors, but I've found those in "Big Name Author" books like Stephen King and James Patterson, so I wasn't going to dock her a star for it. Important to note, though, I rarely give any book five stars. I not only wrote this review, I recommended the book on my FaceBook page and to my FB book club group. In addition, since my mum doesn't have a tablet, I will be purchasing a paperback copy for Mother's Day.Mayhan mentions there are three other books already written about Shelby and Fugly. I would very much like to read them!Edit to add: It's been three days now since I finished the book. I wish I had not read it so fast. I miss the characters.

I never read fiction. I have read all of Joni Mayhan’s true paranormal books though, and because of that I knew that I would read anything she wrote, fiction or not. She is an amazing writer who has a definite way with words and once you open one of her books you will find yourself immersed in an incredible story. And when you finish one book you will find yourself on Amazon looking for another book by this author. This is exactly how I became such a huge fan.Crazy Dead People….You can’t put it down. I found myself missing the characters when I wasn’t reading it. It’s terrifying but humorous at times. It is easy to follow but complex. It is chilling but entertaining. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, and had to slow myself down so that I could read and appreciate all of it.It is a good, long read and I can’t recommend it enough, along with all of Ms. Mayhan’s other books. Can’t wait for the next Shelby and Fugly story!

I am a huge fan of Joni’s fiction work. As I read this book the first time I breezed through it dying to find out how it ended. I immediately reread it again. I put the book down, but found myself picking it back up. As always, I found those hidden treasures. Little phrases and scenes that played over and over in my head. I can’t wait to read about Shelby and Fugly’s next great adventure. When can I expect the next one Joni? I’m dying over here...

This book is awesome! Growing up in Southern Ohio, across the river from West Virginia, I could relate to many things Joni wrote about in this story.I got hooked from the beginning and didn’t want the story to end. I could feel every emotion Shelby felt as if I was standing right beside her. The descriptions of many things I could vision and even brought tears to my eyes as well.I’d highly recommend this book to everyone who loves paranormal stories.Joni, another great book and am hoping to hear moreadventures with Shelby, Fugly, Brock and Montgomery. 👍🏻👍🏻

I'm a big fan of Joni's true paranormal and fiction books, so I was looking forward to this read. I loved the characters and the story pulls you in right from the start. As a true fan of paranormal horror, it takes a lot to scare me. This book gave me goosebumps and had me looking over my shoulder as I read. I'm looking forward to the next adventure with Shelby and Fugly.

This book had my full attention from the beginning , It takes a lot to scare me , but I have to say this one did. I can't wait to read more Shelby and Fugly adventures and of course Frank .

This was a great read! I couldn't put it down and finished it in a few hours. I just needed to find out what happened. I also find Shelby very relatable in several ways, so I really understood how she was feeling. This was very well written and is an attention grabber for sure. I hope there will be another one!

I really enjoyed this book, the characters were believable and Shelby very likable. I like the fact she has a dog, Fugly,and look forward to the next instalment.
