Working well for my children who are taking lessons

Purchased for my son’s piano lesson as a beginner. Great material for kids getting started out.

My daughter is exploding with the step-by-step approach of Alfred's instruction books. The graphics are fun for a 1st grader. The concepts are well thought-out. The lessons allow for gradual, yet excellent progression in learning music theory and piano skills.

My 5yr old is in piano lessons and this has been a great book to help with lessons.

I LOVE Alfred's basic piano library. It takes kids from playing notes with finger numbers on them at first and makes an easy transition to the staff. I have used this series to teach my kids how to play, and I am amazed with the results, since I have taught myself too! The theory book teaches music notation which is used along side a lesson book, recital book and a technic book. It is very clear, and each book tells you when to introduce the next piece/pieces in each book based on where you are in the lesson book. Alfred's Basic a Piano Library has saved us loads of money in lessons. I am VERY happy!

This is our second time ordering this book. Both my sons piano teacher recommended this book and it is a fantastic tool to teach basic theory to young ones. My first son started this book at 5 years old and my next at 6 1/2. If you are teaching your own children this would be an excellent resource. It coincides with the instruction books well.

These came highly recommended (theory and lessons books both) as the first books for an 8 year old by an excellent piano teacher! I have a background in music but not in piano so I am going to learn right along with my children with these! We are not trying to DIY piano lessons but didn't want to start a commitment like that unless there was true interest so we wanted to start with a beginner book and see. I really like these books and feel like even my 35 year old self will learn from these! I highly recommend!

This is a good beginning music theory book for kids, when used with the Lesson 1A book. My grandson did a little better with this book than the Lesson book, as he was more used to completing written exercises.
