I use it in my car down by the gear shift, and I'd say the only downside is not being able to functionally use the phone without giving it some balance so it doesn't lift up on one side. My Qi phone case has one antenna, so you have to know where to set it to get it charging, but that's just a learning process. I'll keep this regardless if I end up using something different in the vehicle.There is a rubber ring around the edge to stick to phones. Not sure how well it works on metal, but my plastic/rubber case sticks very well.
