The plunger/syringe will not retract without extreme force and I can't imagine trying to insert marinade let alone garlic without having Superman abilities. My hands are not strong enough to use this product (50 year old woman). Shame.Update: I lubricated the inside very lightly with cooking grease and now it's easy to plunge.
