The antenna does not specifiy how far the range is. I already have an antenna of similar concept except the older one is larger and you must tape it against the wall. The other one is larger because it is supposed to get more channels. This version gets the same amount of channels and a lot better reception than the other one. I like the stand because I am able to place this on top of my tv without taping it to my wall. It is much easier to make fine adjustments and just a small movement of half an inch can clear up a channel if you have issues. The stand has a suction cup on the bottom. I am not fond of the suction cup as you may need to continually put it up. The included sticky stuff is half decent too because the suction cup is curved.All you need to do to set this up is find a place for it. Screw the adapter into the TV. Scan for channels with your TV and you are all set. The amount of channels you get is highly dependent on where you live. I live in a town with a population of 100,000 and still get over ten news channels and other programs. I ended up watching the Super Bowl this year on this antenna. These antennas are supposed to get HD channels if they are available and the picture is indeed great. If you watch TV on occasion this is a great way to save money as you do not have to pay a monthly premium. The image on the antenna is unique and gets peoples attention. For the price it's not bad in that I can pick up quite a few channels, especially the locals in hi def. However, it can tend to lose channels often and I have to re-scan the TV. We have bought another HD antenna that cost about $10 more, and that works much better and picks up more channels.
