The silicone frame is thicker at the corners and will probably withstand a drop from a nominal height. Just a couple of things to be aware of. The thickness or the case around the charging port precludes the use of a 90 degree connector so you will have to use a straight one. The screen cover is very delicate and scratches easily. I use a flat faced stylus for games and they require I drag items around on the screen. The manufacturer includes a frame without this plastic so this was a no brainer. I recommend a high quality tempered glass screen cover.
