Until you try using it in real life, then you notice a glaring flaw: which direction streets go in is not marked in any way! This is way more important than some of the other trivia included. It is impossible and illegal to operate any vehifle, from bicycle to car in NYC without keen awareness of which way each one way street goes.... And most streets in NYC are one way. And please don't try to tell me I should just use rules of thumb like "in Manhattan even cross streets run eastbound" -- everyone already knows that, but we buy an atlas because we know there are exceptions eg e 2 st. Streets change direction (eg Lafayette St). Patterns are made to be broken (take the west village -- no please, take that confusing place away, harhar!) And thats just manhattan. There are 5 boros filled with this insanity and if you solely rely on a map that pretends oneway streets do nit exist.... You will never get anywhere and go in cirfcles. I really cannot believe this piece of junk gets sold, and most of all I am shocked that there were 3 positive reviews before I bought this. Dude, did any of you guys actually try using this thing to go from point a to b? Or did you only use it for trips purely on expressways or someting? I challenge you to get from little Italy to LGA (for example) without using expressways with this useless piece of junk. You will either have to use another map, ypu r own memorized knowledge, or you will go in circles.I was planning on using this to study NYC navigation for the TLC taxicab driver exam and/or for fun, but apparently I should have just used Google maps. Sheesh. Thought paper would be nicer in some ways, and maybe there is a good one somewhere but not this one! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So Good, I bought it twice. *by C***. on Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2017* As far as I can tell, this is the LAST edition of the Hangstrom street atlas for NYC. In driving this city, I've found that GPS isn't nearly as reliable as one would hope(One night, the GPS unit kept placing me roughly 500 ft. away from where I actually was, screwing up navigation for the entire trip.) This map book makes it easy, even with sometimes spotty cellular coverage(That happens, too, in parts of this city,) to look up an address and plot your route. It does make many of the same assumptions that any printed map will make. Namely, that you know where you are and that you are able to determine which direction you are traveling. A skill that, regretfully, many these days do not possess. If you know how to read a map, well, here's likely the best map for traveling in the City of New York.
