I did figure out that when I used an SD SDXC (extended capacity) the camera did not work even though I formatted several times. I tried an SD SDHC (high capacity) and that worked. I also dropped from 128 GB to 32 GB but I believe it was the difference between the extended capacity vs the high capacity that made the difference.
