My laptop desk is kind of a smooth, pebbled plastic surface and my laptop has two rubber strips along the bottom, but it still slid down if the desk was even slightly inclined. Not anymore! These are GREAT for this purpose! **Q: If I put my sofa on the edge of a flat wooden roof, would these grippers prevent sofa from going over edge when sitting on sofa?** A: These are not made to keep you from falling to your death. Bolt that sofa down. Or better yet, just don’t put a sofa on a roof that isn’t already a deck with safety rails. **Q: Can these be stacked to get more height?** A: They can be stacked. **Q: Can these be used on the claws of grabbers/reachers?
