I tried a few tests on it:1) A hand squeeze test. I squeezed it not quite at full strength (because I had visions of broken glass and blood running from my hand). It did not crack or break and I imagine that it would have withstood a full strength squeeze.2) Holding water bottle upside down filled with water with lid on for 10 seconds. No leakage.3) Shaking water bottle upside down filled with water with lid on several times. No leakage.My only recommendation to the producers of this product would be to eliminate plastic altogether. Would it be possible to use stainless steel lids or else plastic lids with stainless steel on the bottom, so that only the stainless steel is in contact with the liquid? I don't 100% trust any plastic next to fluids and even BPA free does not guarantee that there will be no leakage of harmful chemicals. My review is thus 4.5 rounded to 5. I cook all our meals, and prefer big batches with stored leftovers. For that use, there is simply no better container for refrigerating liquids, especially readily perishable dairy or colorful tomato- or turmeric-based sauces. These bottles solve my storage dilemma with beauty, user-friendliness, and practicality. Easy to use, pleasant to hold, they clean up perfectly and quickly. In recent years I had found that even the higher quality Rubbermaid and Tupperware storage bottles allowed milk and cream to “turn” well before expiration date. Plastic invites residue no matter how thoroughly it seems to be cleaned. And like other home cooks, I was frustrated to find that even small amounts of red tomato or yellow curry would permanently stain the inside of plastic storage containers. Plastic inevitably wears, so flavors and colors settle into minuscule scratches. That plastic is hard to clean, too, without harsh chemicals and precise bottle brushes. What I wanted, I realized, was glass. Glass milk bottles. What a concept. Glass containers designed to serve as repeat-use storage containers. I doubted I could find them, but a surprisingly quick search on Amazon led me right to these beautiful, affordable, sturdy glass quart-sized milk bottles by Radiant Day. Perfect! The two bottles arrived so quickly and were so precisely what I wanted, I actually laughed when I opened the box. First, they are beautiful. Nostalgic, of course, for those remember home deliveries of dairy in glass bottles. Further, the bottles are made of sturdy, thick, but brightly clear glass, with white plastic caps that are easy to pop on, seal tightly, and pry off easily. The bottles also come with plenty of extra caps! This anticipates that small objects can go missing no matter how conscientious the cook. The size and shape of the bottle is perfect for an average hand to grasp comfortable. (I’m a woman with a medium glove size.) Even filled with water, the volume and weight of one bottle is easy to manage single-gabdedkg. The glass is smooth but not slippery. I’ve got both bottles in use every day and don’t know how I managed without them before this. I’ve used them to store half-and-half, homemade cashew cream, deep red tomato sauce, bright orange squash curry, and fragrant Tuscan bean soup. In every case the bottles and caps have been easy to clean completely. No tint or fragrance is left behind. These Radiant Day glass milk bottles are a model of beauty and utility. They are my favorite Amazon purchase and best kitchen investment this year. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for little hands that are just learning how to pour drinks. *by J***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2019* We get raw milk from a local farmer. They deliver once a week, so we have to buy 3-4 gallons at a time. These bottles are perfect for cutting down on the amount of space a gallon takes up, even allowing us to get creative with how we're going to store said milk. We bought our first set of 4 bottles when our two oldest littles were 6- and 4-years old. At that time, they had no trouble taking the caps off and pouring milk for themselves (after an initial great teaching opportunity about what gravity does to liquid when the cap-less bottle it's in is turned upside down). Maybe my then-4-year-old had trouble getting the lid off, but that was handy because then we always knew when she was trying to get a drink of milk. She also has poor muscle tone, so that could've attributed.Two sides of each bottle have a slight inward curve making it easy to solidly grasp. Four bottles will hold a gallon with room to spare at the top of the bottles. The caps come off and go on easily enough for our littles, but not too easily - you have to make an effort to take the cap off, it's not like the cap will come off if it's gently nudged. We haven't dropped the bottles, so I can't speak to how sturdy they are in that respect, but I have a feeling the caps won't just pop off if the bottles are dropped. The bottles are thick & substantial enough that I also have no question as to whether they'll shatter if dropped - they won't. Unless, of course, you're 12 feet tall and drop the bottle on a solid tile floor. Then they might break. But for most home use, I'm confident they'll hold up.Like I said earlier, we originally bought a set of 4 approximately 6 months ago and just came back for a second set. Our first set came with 6-8 extra caps, and this set did, too. The bottles wash up VERY well on the bottom rack of our dishwasher. There's never any milk fat left after one run through the washer and they dry very well with the heated dry setting. They also dry very well when put upside down on a drying rack on the counter. We only hand wash our caps as that's what's recommended. We're still on our first (original) set of caps, and they haven't loosened or started to show any signs of wear.One thing - be sure to have a paper towel handy when you first use them. Once you figure it out, you probably won't have any drippage (I tend to pour out of these like you would out of a wine bottle and that seems to prevent drips). But until then, you'll lose a tiny bit of milk running down the side of the bottle as you tip it back up. I'm pretty sure it's just the nature of these types of bottles in general, not a manufacturing/design defect.All in all, I'm really glad we bought these. I'm even more glad we bought a second set. If you're on the fence about whether to buy them, do it.
