Review: “Best Metal Detector in the World” according to my 8 year old son. - I picked up the hobby early last year with a Simplex, and upgraded to a Legend in September (because I mostly hunt a beach in the summer). My 8 year old almost always comes with me but has a hard time swinging the Simplex. I bought this for him for Christmas. Our first time out with it, we went to a local basketball court that is very trashy. My son was able to fully operate the detector completely himself. In about 45 minutes he had 3 finds. They were all coins. He ignored any iron signals (the midi shows 3 icons for low/iron, mid and high) he even figured out how to notch out the iron signals completely. He was able to use every feature from the different color LEDs, the sounds, the visual indicators, depth guide and notching. He said he feels like a real metal detectorist now and this is the best meta detector in the world. I was hesitant because the price of the MIDI is a little more than half of a simplex, but for someone his size and experience, I think it was completely worth it for this detector. Being waterproof is a huge plus. We’ll have to see how it goes on the beach this summer.

He has found many buttons, silver coins, spoons, locks, hinges, you name it. I wouldn’t settle for anything less than this nokta. If your kid is interested in metal detecting, encourage it and go for this detector. The only problem is I have a nokta as well and the interference starts at about 15 yards apart. Even if I swap frequencies it’s still there. But this one is easier to just turn off and back on if he needs help with digging or trying to identify something. This nokta is by far the best one out there for kids learning it.

A: Sorry about that.  Those are actually Amazon's photos .  They won't let me put photos up if the item is already listed.  We ship according to the description.  If you order the midi then that is the one that will ship.

**Q: Does this midi set include the "cool kit"?**
A: Mine didn’t.

**Q: How is midi different than mini?**
A: The difference is the features and adjustability.  The Midi is for older children and features a longer shaft, three levels of sensitivity, three audio tones, three depth level indicators, a 7" coil instead of 6", etc.

I bought this for my 5year old son. We have so much fun with it! It actually works! We go to the beach and search for things. I always plant coins and the metal detector is pretty good at finding what I plant. We also have found items that are left on the beach in the sand (bottle caps, batteries, tent pegs, food wrappers, a spoon, a bracelet, etc). Nothing high value bit it does detect super small stuff. I took off one star because this is supposed to be waterproof-which it is- but we always get a signal when we are on wet sand. So no wet sand detecting or in the water because the detector alarms no matter what near the water. But on dry sand, it's great and a lot of fun.
