Can this be used on nstural gas unit** A: No. It can not. **Q: Will this work on the vanguard model vpj16l wall heater?** A: This Pilot should work just fine for what you are looking for. The Thermo-coupling is usually the problem when pilot does not work. All of these are fairly generic and you will have no problem with them. The mounting position may be slightly different from brand to brand, but they will adapt. The only thing that you need to look out for is the difference between Propane/Butane and Natural Gas. Propane and Natural Gas will not interchange. If you have Natural Gas be sure the Pilot is for Natural Gas. Old unit came off easily and new one on easily. Perfect blue pilot stays lit now. Note: you need an open end 8mm wrench for disconnecting/attaching the thermocouple line to the gas valve box.
