It arrives packaged in a very simple plastic bag. If you're getting this as a gift be prepared to repackage it to make the packaging reflect the quality of the scarf. There were no obvious defects. In the picture the colors are icy blue and dark gold. The actual item though is more greenish blue and yellow. I bought a blue/green one a couple of years ago, and it remains absolutely lovely. This one is not quite so subtle, and other reviewers have complained that the fringe is too gaudy. I can see their point, but it's still a lovely item, and heck -- if you don't like the fringe, cut it off. If you don't think you can do a professional job, take it in for alteration.
