My husband has a hiatal hernia, from which he's finally beginning to recover after many years. He's been on proton pump inhibitors for most of that time, and as his healing has improved, those PPI's began to have a horrible effect on him--he was horribly dizzy and shaky and bedridden for days. I suspected he was low on magnesium, but puzzled because he was taking supplements. I began to wonder if the supplements just weren't being absorbed because of his now low stomach acid.
