Great product
Excellent battery 🔋 life. Very durable. Good sound good clean bass. Hard to carry, its heavy for one hand, & for some stupid reason there is no handle or strap to carry it.

Impeccable build quality and sound
The media could not be loaded. Â ***** 5 month update *****I've had this speaker since January 2018 and it is still going strong. The battery life has continued to amaze me and I've hardly ever had to charge it. I decided to take the grill off and wipe it down a bit since I hadn't done so since I got it. Check out my video to see all the drivers working. In the video I had the sound at about 75% - 80%, and as you can tell it is plenty loud (especially if you're indoors).Original review:This speaker (Tough XL) is an absolute tank. It looks like it can take anything. And it basically can. It is everything-proof. Dust, water, mud, sand, you name it. Sonically, it sounds amazing, as there are EIGHT drivers facing all directions, so you're always getting quality sound wherever you are in relation to the speaker. The bass drops, too. At 50 hrtz, this speaker puts out deep, clean bass that you simply wouldn't expect to hear from a speaker like this. I get compliments on it all the time. A lot of other speakers out there have decent bass, but a lot of the time it's more of a muddy, thumpy, and overpowering bass. That's not the case with the Fugoo XL. Paired with the 4 tweeters and the 2 midwoofers on the sides, this thing puts out some of the most clear and well-balanced sound I've ever heard from a portable Bluetooth speaker. When you pick it up, you will immediately notice that it is extremely well engineered. Button placement is perfect and they are very responsive and sync with your smartphone (so you don't have to turn up your phone separately from the speaker). It also has an "outdoor mode," which is on by default when you first turn on the speaker out of the box. This produces slightly louder sound, with more emphasis on mids and less emphasis on bass. This helps the sound to carry further when you're outdoors. I find that most of the time I prefer to keep it on the "normal" mode, since it provides slightly better bass. To switch between the two modes, you just need to hold down the play/pause button for a few seconds and a voice will tell you what mode you're switching to. It will remember which mode you set it to, so there's no need to change it every time you turn it on.A few other small details that I like about this speaker is that it has support for both AAC and aptX Bluetooth codecs. Both are superior to the standard SBC codec used by most Bluetooth speakers. This just means that you'll have a higher quality Bluetooth experience with higher than average sound. One thing to keep in mind is that for aptX to work, you'll need to be using a device that has it built in. The same is true for AAC. however, all iPhones support AAC by default and Android phones with Android 8.0 or newer will have support for both AAC and aptX. Unfortunately my Nexus 6P does not support aptX (thanks Google), but it does support AAC, so that is what I've been using. The Bluetooth range is also very good at 120 feet. I've experienced zero connection issues, even if I walk far away from the speaker.I also need to talk about the battery life. It's amazing. The company claims 35 hours at half volume, and I have no reason to doubt this. I've used it all day at max volume for many hours and there is usually still a good amount of battery life at the end if the day. You can check the battery status by pressing the power button when the unit is on. When you do this, a green light will flash 1-6 times to tell you where the battery is at. 1 means low, 2 means about one quarter, 3 means 50%, 4 means three quarters, 5 means almost full, and 6 means full. By default a voice tells you the battery level when you turn it on, but you can disable it or turn the voice level down by holding down the volume + and - buttons when you turn on the speaker. If I had to pick an area where I'd improve the speaker, it would probably be loudness. As others have already said here in the reviews, this speaker is a little bit more subdued in the loudness department compared to some other speakers in this class. However, for me this is not an issue because 1) it gets loud enough for my needs and 2) I prefer sound quality over loudness. Don't get me wrong, this thing gets plenty loud. But for some it is not loud enough. And that's okay. Everyone has their own needs and preferences! To sum up, I would highly recommend this speaker to anyone who cares about sound quality, durability/ruggedness, and portability. Thank you, Fugoo, for making an awesome product!P.S.I bought this speaker with my own money (after lots of research) and voluntarily wrote this review. I didn't receive a discount and I wasn't asked by Fugoo or Amazon to leave a review. I don't review a lot of products on Amazon but I enjoy this speaker so much that I felt compelled to share my experience with you. Thanks for reading!

sound is a bit rough
I bought the original Fugoo several years ago and think it is excellent. When I misplaced it recently and thought I needed a new one, I decided to try the Tough XL instead, based on the excellent experience with the little one. The new one reminds me of the old boom boxes people of my (antique) generation remember, just smaller and lighter, relatively. Still puts out a lot of volume for the size. It weighs 5 lbs, and is a handful if you don't buy the strap with it. Unfortunately, the Fugoo website is currently down and I've had to get out an old belt instead of their strap. Overall, I really like this product. The only thing I miss is a way to tweak the bass and treble. If your source doesn't have these adjustments, I'm sure you'll get used to the sound in no time...(plays Pink Floyd just fine) You can also use it as a speakerphone, if your phone is compatible (mine doesn't do bluetooth), and I'm sure it would work just fine with one of the newer phones. I'm sure I will enjoy using this and you will too. If the 5 lbs bothers you, try the smaller version.

Nice sounding speaker but not as loud as I'd hoped
I work as a cabinet maker in a large industrial woodshop and naturally it is a noisy environment overall. There are saws running, routers and in the background there is always a constant noise from the dust collection systems. This is not the type of shop where hearing protection is required to be worn at all times but if you need to use a router to work some materials then sure you have to put some earplugs in. Currently in the shop we use a Milwaukee brand jobsite boombox style radio. My bench is located 35-45 feet from the radio and with normal shop hum and noise i can hear that radio nice and clear and i believe that it is set around 8 out of 10 on the volume. I was hoping that this Fugoo XL Speaker would provide the same shop filling sound needed for this type of environment. Unfortunately this speak falls way short in this setting. If i go 35-45 feet away from this speaker at maximum volume i have to concentrate on the sound to figure out what song is playing. For a $300 speaker i would think it should match the volume of a 5 to 10 year old jobsite style radio but it doesn't come close which is highly disappointing for me. However used at home in my quiet one story rancher, this speaker has a very nice rich sound that is nice and loud, it's also a nice looking rugged thing that I am not afraid the kids will damage while horse playing around the house which is why I give it the four star rating i did. I am sure this speaker is more than enough speaker for many quieter areas but if you are fighting background noise, this speaker just does not have what it takes to get on top of that background noise. Dissapointing for its cost.

Issue with volume control...be aware.
The only issue I have is that, occasionally, I have an issue with the volume control between the remote, speaker, and phone's volume buttons, where I will use the remote or the speaker's onboard volume control and either it is not gradually increasing/decreasing, but jumping through volume intensity. Or I will have the volume up all the way for when I am outside and using the remote or the speaker's onboard next/previous buttons to skip a song causes the volume to drop to a really low intensity, until I use my phones volume control buttons, and even then skipping a song later may cause it to drop again. Had the same issue with my previous speaker of the same model and thought it was just from dropping it a few times, but this seems to be a problem for any of them. Not sure what causes it, but it is quite annoying when the volume buttons decide not to work properly when you go to use them, regardless of whether it is the remote, speaker, or phone's volume control buttons.

awesome sound.....well worth it
Great speaker.....sounds like way more than it is. I use it outside "on the hill" and in the garage. So far the battery life is great. Connects quickly and works on a near and far Bluetooth signal. The only complaint is it has a fair bit of bass....wish I could turn it down sometimes. But no biggy!Oh yeah....charges very quickly.But....h............for the price it should come with a carry strap. Kinda silly. I bought the FUGOO strap and it didn't work. There was no place to attach the FUGOO strap to the RUGGED case......silly!! because of this I give it a true rating of 4.5 stars! It was returned.

The others need to catch up!
On Battery Life: Since its arrival on Monday, and being fully charged, I have left it on while at home, at work, etc. Easily using 5-6 hours a day, and today is Thursday, and afted checking it, it says speaker is about 3/4 full.On Audio: Goes fairly loud. Yes, some distortion, but you can't hold the standards of a hifi system to it. However, compared to other speakers in its class, it is well worth the cost, and really, the 360 degree speaker placement is the way to go! As well, though it is minimal, is nice to have a set that still gives that distinction between the highs/mids/lows.On the Body: I purchased the XL Tough version, and enjoy how rugged it is. It has impressed my other coworkers on site and some already plan on purchasing the same item! No drop tests or water tests but that will be a while

Best blue tooth speaker you can buy.
I bought the original version of this 5 years ago, and it finally started to fail after mutiple times in the lake, hot tub, mud on the atv, thousands of song, and hundreds of miles. The sound quality is exceptional, the unit is extremely durable, and totally waterproof, the volume is loud, and everyone is amazed with it.I had no heitation in buying another one, because the first was so good.If you want a truly durable unit, and love good sound quality, but it, you won’t find it in any other Bluetooth speaker this size.

Awesome Speaker!
Awesome product. Seamless transaction. This seems to be the best Bluetooth speaker I can find. Clarity and punchiness gives us a full house of music without distortion. Great bottom end, unlike (all?) others. Battery life is very long. 35+ hours at a decent volume: approximately 60%.The shell is awesome. Tough? Indeed.Very happy with the purchase!
