In the instructions and online it states the smallest diameter it will open and that is too small. My husband and I are getting older and there are some jars we simply struggle with. This is adjustable so it fits most lids (we have not found one that it did not work on), it grips well, and provides the leverage needed to open particularly tough lids. It works much better than those plastic or rubber grippers. Note: it has “teeth” as part of the gripping mechanism and leaves a mark on the lid, not overtly noticeable, but if you have a decorative jar it will leave a mark on the lid.
