I have a friend who used a metal saw to cut 12" off the vertical poles, popped the plastic caps out of the top of the poles and put them back in where they were cut - apparently this is all simple and easy to do - especially if you have someone competent to do it for you, lol. I did assemble the unit and can confirm that part was super easy and the unit is very sturdy. Shelves slide over plastic clips, which act more as wedges than clips to hold shelves in place - hard to describe, but it is an extremely simple and intelligent design that works well under heavy loads.. Anyway, this shelving unit fits perfectly in my kitchen closet area, and I was easily able to transfer everything from the free-staning cabinet I was previously usng as a pantry to this unit without issues and now I can easily access everything in my pantry and see everything I have by just pulling this shelving unit out of the closet and can shove it back in when I'm done. I wish there was a rail or 1' wall at the base of each shelf to keep items from sliding off, but not a huge problem if I remember to move the unit gently - to be on the safe side, I used bungie cords to make a rail and they are working fine and I think string would work just as well. My unit is fully loaded and rolls in and out of the closet easily, but again to err on the side of caution I will not try moving it around more than the couple of feet from in and out of the closet while fully loaded..Additionally, I was careful to load all the heaviest items on the two bottom shelves and not to exceed the manufacturer's weight limit for this unit. Please note that the manufacturer's pamphlet included with the product states it can support a maximum of 500 lbs. on the casters, NOT 600 lbs. as stated in description here. Lastly, I can confirm the vertical poles are standard 1" width and will fit the inexpensive, standard screw-in casters widely available for that size pole. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars HEAVY DUTY, SIMPLE TO ASSEMBLE, HIGH QUALITY *by C***. on Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2017* Oh my! I am so pleased. I was a bit hesitant, scared I would receive wobbly, cheap shelving. This is so sturdy. Holds hundreds of pounds, even comes with rollers. I use mine for bolts of fabric (which are extremely heavy) and then stacks of fabric.I did have to shorten it a bit but there are so many pre markings it made it a simple job. Used the Dremel and heavy duty metal cutting blade. A hacksaw would work fine. I am 62 year old widow so if I can do it anyone can!But it is heavy. I put it together myself making sure I cut once to see how difficult it would be to cut -then did the final cutting. (I sure didn't want it too short!) I cut it to fit inside my closet on the very end which measured 25" wide. All four poles have to be same height so don't just start cutting. (If you need to cut at all.) The feet allow for some adjusting. Perfect for garages, closets, pantries that do not have shelving. The shelves are completely adjustable. Whether you need one 6" tall and another 18". There are several pre-cut markings to allow you to place your shelves wherever you want.My rack is TOTALLY full and no collapsing or wobbling thus far. I did not use all the shelving or the rollers. I have them in case I need them later. It was well-packaged for shipping, and pieces were nicely protected. Instructions are simple and easy to follow. This rack can be made stationary, or it can be set up with wheels, 2 of which are locking. The frame is measured in increments of one inch to make placing the slip sleeves easy. Just put the 2 pieces around the legs where you want them, and slide them down just a bit until you hear a click. Shelves fit easily onto the sleeves wherever you want to place them. I got this rack to put in my small kitchen to house my various small appliances when I'm not using them so I don't need to clutter up my limited counter space. Not only is it functional, but it gives my kitchen a little kick of modern flair.
