Buying a hammock seems all wrong. But, my teenager has been asking for one of these hammocks so Merry Christmas to her! With that preamble, you can guess that my experimentation so far has been limited to tying it up on my deck while she is too busy ignoring me to notice (which gave me lots of time, but not quite the right spot). I did do some research on different brands, and in the end, most of the lightweight, portable hammocks seem very similar and don't have a lot of major issues. So far...here are my initial thoughts.What I like1. It really is small and compact. Another reviewer actually weighed it. I'll just say it is about soccer ball-sized (but squishy of course)2. The fabric is strong, durable, and it feels great (which would be nice if it WERE summer and I actually HAD shorts on...)3. There is plenty of room for a teenager in this (there is definitely room for two teenage girls, but definitely not room for a teenage girl and a teenage boy...just saying).What I don't like1. I cannot possibly be the only person who looked at these little ropes and thought "what the heck do I do with those...". Fortunately more sophisticated reviewers than me (i.e., people who don't mind setting up tents, in the dark, in the woods with bears) have put pictures of how to tie this thing up. And, more importantly, they said to buy hammock ties, which I am ordering next.
