I was pleasantly surprised at how soft this salve was and that it wasn't oily or greasy either. But rubbed on and into his pads really well. I could tell he felt better and was eager to get outside again! It has a very mild smell and because it rubbed in so well, he wasn't bothered with licking them at all. Interestingly, yesterday we saw a tick on our dog and his skin looked a little irritated from us pulling the tick out so we used this on that as well and it worked perfectly.
